Today, while I was watching an episode of Young Sheldon, I learned a lesson that really stuck with me. Sheldon was playing cards with his grandmother, and as they played, he noticed her facial expression, he thought she was unhappy and losing the game, which made him feel like he was winning but when they revealed their cards, it turned out that Grandma had actually won. Sheldon was shocked and said, “But you weren’t happy. ”Grandma laughed and said, “I made you think I was unhappy, I bluffed you.” Then, she said“What’s in a person’s face is not always what’s in their heart.”
This simple line made me realize that we often judge people based on their outside signs like their facial expressions, body language and so much more, but the truth is that those outside signs don’t always reflect their true feelings. In today’s world, especially with social media it’s easy to judge people based on what we see. But what people show on the outside isn’t always the full picture. We can’t know exactly what’s going on in someone’s heart just by their facial expression or behavior and that’s okay it’s what makes life interesting.
So, after watching this episode I realized that people faces don’t always match their true feelings, and that’s part of the mystery of human connection. Life is full of surprises, and we’ll never fully know what’s in someone’s heart and that’s what makes everything so much more interesting.
