I was having a casual conversation with my friend group today when the topic shifted to one of our friends who recently accomplished something amazing in her life. As we discussed her achievement, one of my friends said, “Yeah she is so lucky, I wish I were as lucky as her.” It’s a statement I have heard many times before. Whenever we see someone succeeding, it’s easy to assume they are lucky or blessed with talent, or somehow had an easier path.
The idea that success is just about luck is a common misconception. When we look at someone’s achievements from the outside, it can be hard to see all the hard work, failures, and sacrifices that went into it. People don’t always see the sleepless nights, the challenges faced, or the moments when giving up seemed like the easier option. But the truth is, success isn’t about luck, it’s about perseverance. Remember behind every success story, there is someone who kept going even when things weren’t easy. They faced challenges, made mistakes, and learned from them, only to get back up and try again. That’s what separates those who succeed from those who don’t. It’s not about being lucky. It’s about not giving up, no matter how many times you fail.
So, the next time you see someone achieving something great, remember that success doesn’t come from luck—it comes from hard work, dedication, and the ability to push through the toughest times.
