I have always talked with you guys about specific topics, but today feels different. I am sure many of you have had those nights where you are lying in bed, unable to sleep, and you start thinking, Maybe in another universe, things would be different. I have had those nights too. My mind often wanders into a world where everything is just as I want it to be. But most of the time, those dreams are built on the struggles I see around me, struggles many people and I face daily. Let me share some of these thoughts with you:
- Maybe in another universe, we wouldn’t have been forced to leave our homeland and the people we love.
- Maybe in another universe, we wouldn’t have to fight against gender discrimination.
- Maybe in another universe, we wouldn’t fall asleep with tears in our eyes.
- Maybe in another universe, I could truly feel and see my dad’s love.
- Maybe in another universe, racism wouldn’t exist and we could live without the pain of division.
- Maybe in another universe, every life would be treated equally.
- Maybe in another universe, we wouldn’t be the children of war.
These are just glimpses of the thoughts that run through my mind. The “maybes” are endless, but they all stem from the realities we face today, realities that are tough, painful, and unfair. Yet, as we dream of another universe we should also remember that change can start here. It begins with us, with the choices we make, and the hope we carry.
